If you’re looking for a way to meet your minimum spend requirement, credit card funding can be an easy and effective way to manufacture spending from your couch. And sometimes it pays off to check out your local credit union options.

Bank account funding is a great option for Chase cards. Just be sure to lower your cash advance limit to $100 (the minimum) via secure message to Chase. Amex generally doesn’t allow bank account funding. It’s hit or miss with other credit card issuers.

If you live of work in the DC area, Agriculture Federal Credit Union is a unicorn for bank account funding. You can open 6 separate checking and savings accounts and fund each with up to $1,500. This helps you reach many MSRs quickly without actually spending any money.

Be sure to investigate your local options. Doctor of Credit maintains an amazing list of banks that can be funded with a credit card.
