“Doing nothing is better than being busy doing nothing.”

Lao Tzu

Nowhere to be, nothing to do, and no agenda. Sitting in a beach chair, soaking in the beauty surrounding me was a balm for my soul. Hearing the caress of soft waves lapping onto the shore, and drinking in the hues of blue and turquoise put my heart at ease.

I left behind my everyday self during these moments.

That entire day, I channeled inner peace. My husband and son were the active ones. They went snorkeling and swimming together. Then, our son went parasailing and zip-lining. What an adventure!

My journey in those moments was to sit still. It is something I strive to do more of. Being in charge of our bags meant I could meditate on the natural beauty, sip my smoothie, and take it all in.

I rarely peacefully rest for more than an hour at a time. My natural tendency is to be active at all…
