Baking bread and treats from my extra sourdough starter yesterday made me reflect on the sacred parts of everyday life. Even basic things like bread can become a beautiful part of a ritual.
My dough creates extra love I can give to others.
Weekly, I feed it with bread flour and warm water, leaving it to bubble overnight. Saving the overflow from that day’s baking is an abundance I can share.
I baked a whole wheat loaf, English muffins, banana pecan bread, and an extra loaf from the leftover muffin dough! It brought me joy to message my friend to offer her some of these treats and some extra tea from my cabinet.
Giving from our overflow is an act of grace, love, and, most of all, hope.
