The Asian Games are taking place in Jakarta Palembang

As I am writing this, the Asian Games 2018 have started. There’s so much infused in these games. The combination of cultural diversity, sportsmanship and exuberance make this one of the most prominent events of the year.

While reading about these games, I just realized one thing. There’s a lot, us content marketers can learn from the Asian Games. Watching the athletes compete and strive for a single goal really gives me chills.

Asian Games is quite a major event. 40+ countries are participating so there’ll surely be a tough competition. Still, I see the athletes competing with equal zeal, regardless of their limitations or background.

Keep the goal in mind

I believe, as content marketers, we should take a similar approach to our craft. When you’re writing a new article or shooting a new YouTube video, keep the end goal in mind.

Many obstacles pop up in the pathway. We face the writer’s block, then there’s mediocre content too. Similarly, the athletes face a number of obstacles. The lack of motivation and physical stress put them under a lot of strain.

However, they overcome these problems. And that is so because they believe in one simple notion-

Persistence is the key

One has to remain persistent in whatever field in he or she is. The Asian Games are a great example of this notion.

Consider this, all the athletes who enter this competition know that only a few of them will win the gold medal. I can’t say they don’t care about the results, everyone cares about the final gain.

However, they all put equal effort and show equal enthusiasm. When you take a look at the various athletes competing in the games, you’ll get to see that a number of them have participated before.

PV Sindhu, an Indian player has also participated in a number of other events

This means they keep trying until they run out of options or until they win. This is a major point because most of the content marketing relies on persistence.

Unlike advertising, content marketing is a little slow in giving results. You’ll not get 1,000 visitors after your first blog post. But content marketing’s results just like that of a gold medal.

You won’t get immediate results but when your content marketing will begin paying off, you’ll see a strong and steady rise. So, the first thing you can learn is persistence.

Work hard, it pays off

The athletes practice for years before they enter the tournament. A sprinter spends years for a run lasting 30 seconds. The contrast between the preparation and the test is clearly big.

Many novice content marketers and writers make the mistake of beginning their work without any experience. They expect to earn a hefty income, increase their website’s visitors or become an expert without putting in much effort.

You should remember that nothing can replace hard work. You’ll have to learn the basics, master the sentences and enhance your quality.

It takes patience, but in the end, it’s worth it. Look at the face of a winning athlete and you’ll see what kind of happiness you get to experience.

So the second lesson is to keep working hard, there’s no replacement.

People love quality

This point shifts the focus from the athletes to the entire game. We all are content creators. And we also know how the market despises repetitive content.

But take a look at the Asian Games. Most of the games take place in every event. We all know, there’d be one winner, there’d be this many games and pretty much everything is predictable.

The only thing one can’t predict is the outcome of the games. But that’s just one thing.

Then why is it that so many people watch these games. Not only the Asian Games, you can consider the Olympics and other similar events.

You know why? Because of the high quality.

The entire game is organized. they market it properly and ensure they don’t miss anything anywhere.

They also keep improving their quality. By keep revising, improving and taking the help of the experts whenever needed, they ensure that people keep visiting.

Conclusion

So you can see how much there is we content marketers can learn. Persistence and hard work are the two qualities, you get to hear every time. But Asian Games seemed a fine inspiration.

What are your thoughts on the relationship between content marketing and the Asian Games? You can give a comment or throw a like. I’d love your feedback.
