Hey everyone, we know it’s been a while since you heard from us 😊 but spring is in the air 🌸 and we are delighted to be back and excited about sharing a flashback story about one of our team members. Freya worked with us for several months and focused on the Optimus marketing needs with energy and passion. So we sat with her before she moved back to her hometown of Devon — UK to find out about her experience
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
My name is Freya, I’m a 22 year old Anthropology student in London. I’m currently working for Optimus as a marketing intern for 3 months in Stockholm.
What line of work are you in?
I’m an anthropology student, doing an internship in Marketing but I work in bars normally! So hospitality is my main line, but I’m trying to branch out!
What does an ideal day look like for you?
I think I’d wake up around 10am and have a breakfast of some sort of avocado toast with eggs and a cup of tea! I’d then meet friends for some lunch and maybe go for a walk in the afternoon. After this, we’d go to a few bars for some cocktails, then go home with friends and cook for them. We’d have a fun evening making cocktails and food and chatting! Being social keeps me very happy, so any sort of variations of this would be ideal for me.
What attracted you to join Optimus?
I love the idea of being able to develop myself anywhere in the world and with real people! The ability to chat in real time with the coaches and other users really makes all the difference. The widespread of skills that you can learn really appealed to me, so that allowed me to try new things that i’ve never tried before. That’s what attract me to join Optimus.
If you have joined a challenge, what did you like about it?
I’ve joined a few challenges so far and I think my favourite thing is the constant encouragement from everyone! The coaches are all super nice and happy to answer any queries. I also love the way challenges are broken down into bitesize, achievable goals!
What type of new challenge would you like to see most in the future?
I’d love to see more eco and environmental based challenges, as I think that if we can encourage more people to reduce their impact on the planet. Then, we can change things for the better! I love the inventive ways some people have ideas about new ways we can change, reduce and reuse everything on a daily basis!
If you could choose to improve one thing about the app, what would it be?
I’d make the community chat feature allow each person to reply to other comments. I think it will give more of a relaxed and personal feel, with the ability to message as a reply rather than to the whole chat.
What is the most impressive skill you have that you would like to share?
I think I could share my Macrame skills, which is a technique of hand-knotting cord, rope, yarn or other similar materials. You create wall decorations, hanging baskets and sometimes even clothing! I learnt how to do it about 2 years ago. Since then I’ve used it to create gifts for family, friends and just for fun! I think it’s a really good skill to share on Optimus, because it is easy enough to create but it’s slightly difficult to learn without instruction and can go wrong!
Everyone has a good idea for a new app. What is yours?
I think there should be a route planning app for ski resorts! For example, say I want to get to an area but stick only to beginner runs, it should be able to tell me the easiest or quickest way from A to B.
