Why We’re Increasing our Subscription from $5 a Month to $10
The time has finally come… on March 1st, 2023, we’re increasing the price of our monthly subscription.
Option Screener and The Wheel Screener are trader-friendly option screeners that analyze, classify, and categorize all options available on the market on a given day. The team is always more than happy to share their technical insights, market opinions, and methodologies here on Medium. Details Behind the Increase
It’s unfortunately true - we’ve decided to increase our premium subscription price to $10 a month. This switch will occur on March 1st, 2023 and will include all future as well as current subscribers on the premium tier. Read on to learn more about our reasoning for this increase.
Fair Pricing
After a large review of other similar option trading tools and analyzers, we found that our $5/month subscription was by far the most affordable options scanning and screening service compared to all our competitors. We found that we were not just a few dollars cheaper, but even the closest competitor we could find was a staggering 200% more, typically in the $25 to $30 per month range. Even now at $10, we’re still well below these prices, and still 300–400% below many other services.
What in the Price and What We’ve Accomplished So Far
Part of this price increase is built in to what we’ve accomplished so far. Some key improvements around The Wheel Screener and Option Screener ecosystem in the past months include:
- a completely redesign of the site
- an Android mobile app
- a series of advanced 0–7DTE charts and data
- a daily 0DTE newsletter
- increased site reliability and backend power
What’s Still To Come
Remember, even after these improvements, we’re not just increasing the price and calling it a day. There’s so much more we want to bring to the Wheel Screener and Option Screener communities. Some ideas we have in mind:
- Release of the iOS version of our mobile app
- A daily wheel strategy focused newsletter
- Ensuring that non subscribers are removed from premium (so far we didn’t have an automated unsubscribe methodology built into our systems — this was a bit of a trick / thank you so far to everyone who was an early adopter of The Wheel Screener, but we’ve finally started to crack down on this loophole, well done to those out there who were enjoying it, and we know there were some!)
- More site reliability improvements, testing, and option data retrieval optimizations
- Automated trading and real time analytics using your broker’s streaming abilities
- Custom option score designer and subsequent scanner
- More 0DTE signals, proprietary indexes, and charts — we want to master the 0DTE options market, especially focusing on net credit strategies that are so similar to the wheel strategy
Further Subscription Tiers and Pricing
As can be seen on our pricing page, we plan to also roll out higher tiers for our more compute and storage intensive products, like our realtime Gamma, Vanna, and Charm exposures, as well as our various 0DTEVIX instruments. For now, those are included as a courtesy and free preview to premium subscribers, but as we refine them, they will likely fall under our higher pricing tiers.
