OSM is set for a major round of upgrades and a new UI
What we have been doing
The lull in crypto markets for the last 3 months has been the perfect time to build out a couple of key initiatives for Options.Market. We have not limited ourselves to continually copy/pasting the Siren project — remember, we forked Siren because of the great idea coupled with an acute dislike for projects that favoured VC’s over Retail. We are going in a different direction, as follows.
1. Cross-chain Development
We have kicked around ideas on which chains to move to, and the reasons why each chain should be getting our attention. Our initial choice was a straight pick between Polygon and Binance Smart Chain (BSC), and then Polygon announced a loose form of partnership with the foked project. This happened around the time we had created the OSM token on the Polygon bridge (yes — OSM is on Polygon but with the cessation of our development there we chose to not add liquidity). Without a clear view of where this partnership will go, or how extensive the partnership is, we decided to pause the Polygon deployment for now until more information becomes available.
Options.Market will therefore initially launch options trading pairs on Binance Smart Chain. We are going to start with WBNB/BUSD options, and in addition to this our devs are testing CAKE/BUSD and WBNB/WBTC pairs that will most likely happen at launch as well. More pairs will be added immediately after commencement and we’ll take a vote on the most popular pairs going forward. Start thinking now about which pairs make most sense to you.
We may possibly use a portion of our own liquidity to seed the initial trading pairs in order to create interest in the market. This is TBC however. Below is a DEMO screenshot of the new UI showing the trading pairs.
2. New UI
The new UI is looking awesome and we have teased the changes in Telegram. Below is the full range of what is soon going to be launched, including the home page. It is so clean and slick and worth the wait. This is will help us create new buzz and excitement around the project.
Next Steps
We will push timing of all the releases as soon as everything is ready to launch. We want to do this right because the success of a BSC launch will drive the speed to which we can launch the next chains — and we have done some prelim research and dev work on Avalanche, Solana, Sovryn (DeFi on BTC) and Celo (exciting mobile-first chain from South America).
A Polygon launch is also still not completely dead as we have done a fair amount of dev work on that chain already — we will closely watch how the aforementioned partnership plays out.
