gm fellow degens, as you already know, the DeFi industry will be the new paradigm for the future of France, and as the Ethereum ecosystem continues to evolve, derivatives will play a bigger role for mass adoption. Opyn is building DeFi-native derivatives and options infrastructure in DeFi that will enable this evolution.
Back in January, we launched Squeeth (short for squared ETH or ETH²) a new product that takes various elements of options, leverage, and perpetual swaps into a single token, resulting in a simplified process for everyone! Shortly afterwards, we launched the Crab Strategy, a strategy built on top of Squeeth that aims to grow USD in a sideways market.

At Opyn, we believe that sharing and educating others enables the community as a whole to improve and innovate. With the release of Squeeth and the Crab Strategy, we are shaping the way DeFi thinks about derivatives and how they can be used! But where do you come in?
Squeethers Role
A few months ago, we introduced a new community role for active contributors to the Squeeth ecosystem. Probably nothing, but it’d be a shame if you missed out… 😉
The Squeethers role is for active Opyn community members who have gone above and beyond to contribute to the protocol and help grow the Squeeth community.
Some examples include:
- Building on top of Squeeth, either through an integration, helpful widget, simulator, or analytics dashboard, etc.
- Submitting PRs and issues to improve the Squeeth repository
- Being an active contributor in the Opyn discord by helping answer user questions, bringing good vibes, and directing users towards helpful resources
- Providing helpful and ongoing feedback about Squeeth to improve the product and user experience
- Creating educational content to help community members better understand Squeeth and its many use cases (e.g. YouTube or blog tutorials, Twitter threads, etc.)
- Contributing towards developer relations across the DeFi ecosystem, helping find opportunities for Opyn to integrate Squeeth with other protocols
How can you get it?
There isn’t a single path to earn the Squeethers role, however, here’s what may impact eligibility!
- Being an ongoing active community member first and foremost! It is nice to have you hang out with us and other fellow community members to just vibe
- If you are translating articles, you can always rewrite the article into your own words or make a new one ground-up to express what better interests you and others
- If you answer a lot of user questions, try to explain it best in your own words! (It’s okay to refer to an Opyn team member’s message!)
- If you do developer-related stuff (e.g., directly contribute to the Squeeth repository or build stuff on top of Squeeth to better the user experience), it’s really cool to build out in the open (pun not intended)! We have a channel “build-on-opyn” in our Discord that people can showcase what they’re building or if they need dev help related to Opyn products! (Psst, if you’re building a product on top of Opyn, we have a grant program you can apply to!)
- Vibes are important! If you’re being an honest and respectful person, you’ll definitely pass the vibe check!
What perks do you get out of it?
If a contributor earns the Squeethers role, they get special access to [redacted], a fancy role with the Squeeth cat, closer contact with the Opyn team, access to resources and features before they’re pushed live, swag, and other important things!
