It is a procedure involving removal of tooth. Extraction is indicated in following cases:
- Severe tooth decay or infection
- Severe gum disease affecting bone
- Fractured teeth
- Supernumerary, supplementary or malformed teeth
- Treatment of symptomatic impacted wisdom teeth
- Receiving radiation therapy to the head and neck area may require extraction of teeth in the field of radiation.
- Retained milk teeth
- In preparation for orthodontic treatment (braces)
