- A biopsy is a sample of tissue taken from the body in order to examine it under microscope.
- An abnormal mass/ growth within the mouth which is suspicious of a tumour/cancer needs to be biopsied to reach a diagnosis and decide a treatment plan.
- Biopsy is a short, about 10 minutes procedure, usually done under local anesthesia. It is sometimes also done under general anesthesia.
