Oh, Jason Sudeikis, you have fallen into the vortex of the recent string of Garry Marshall films from “Valentine’s Day” to “New Years Day”, and now to complete the trilogy, you play the divorced dad in “Mother’s Day”.

Oh, Jason is this a new trend for you? To play the quintessential boyfriend, the new love interest? I fear that may be so with “Sleeping with Other People” and “Tumbledown”.

But do not be disheartened, you are not the first to travel along these roads, another not long ago came down the same path as you.

Our dear friend John Corbett, who we loved as the quirky DJ on “Northern Exposure” launched into the boyfriend orbit with “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. But to his credit, he has played a rather diverse set of boyfriends.

He played the hippie boyfriend in “Serendipity”.

And the pastor boyfriend in “Raising Helen”.

But the pinnacle was of course Aidan Shaw, one of Carrie Bradshaw’s boyfriends in “Sex in the City”.

It is not too late dear Jason Sudeikis to escape from being type-cast away into the annals of movie history. Maybe Alexandar Payne will pull you from the depths with his new film “Downsizing”, but I fear you are falling astray with “Angry Birds”.

I wish you luck Jason Sudeikis. Godspeed.
