Vols Get Commit from Big In-State Prospect

Who? Tanner Antonutti
What? Tight end/offensive tackle
Where is he from? Nashville, Tennessee (Ensworth High School)
If you are familiar with football recruiting in the Tennessee mid-state area, you’ve probably heard the name Tanner Antonutti. Antonutti is a three-star tight end/offensive tackle from Ensworth High School who has been on the radar of the Volunteers for quite some time. And there’s good reason for this.
Antonutti is a veritable monster standing at 6-foot-5, 260 pounds whose frame and mobility allow for him to be very effective as a tight end and a lineman. It was a badly kept secret when it came to Antonutti and his affinity for the Volunteers and on Sunday he committed to UT, according to a report from Volquest.com.
Antonutti is a guy whose potential greatly exceeds his three-star status. What those ratings may not take into consideration is that Antonutti has the potential to transform his body at the college level. Yes, he is lean and mean at his current size, but it is not too farfetched to think that he could end up around 300 pounds or so, given the correct training. Even more, he is an athlete that could keep his skills and abilities at 300 pounds.
When you warm up his tape, you see a player with superior reach, mobility, and quickness. He is very light on his feet and a polished blocker.
Tennessee was not the only team in the hunt for Antonutti. He had received offers from the likes of Lousiville, Mississippi State, Memphis and LSU. According to 247 Sports, Antonutti is the No. 77 offensive tackle in the class of 2018 and the No. 26 player from the state of Tennessee. In the end, it all boiled down to his want to remain loyal and stay with his home state school.
