Musical people like us are on weird, twisting journeys in music — carving paths through a vast wilderness of sound. Climbing mountains.

Sometimes we meet other music-makers along the way. And yet quite often it’s a lonely road.

Sometimes people listen, dance and absorb what we make into their hearts. And yet quite often our music is confined to our private lives.

As musical adults with unique abilities and creative energies, we share some common struggles…

1. Slow progress on the adult player’s journey. While music education programs, are largely focused on children and teens, there’s little to guide and inspire adult players across spectrums of skills and instruments.

2. Inadequate systems for musical networking. From Facebook to Craigslist to Reddit to band-builder apps to flyers on bulletin boards, finding compatible musical collaborators is risky, fractured and impersonal.

3. Tedious planning and logistics that deplete time to play. Players spend precious time on project management tasks: coordinating schedules, transporting gear, locating, securing and preparing space to play.

4. Musical silos that inhibit diversity and isolate players. Musical people crave community yet experience the acute pain of feeling tribe-less.

A Gym for Musical People
Orbital Music Park provides a stimulating milieu for adults in Richmond, Virginia to express their unique musical identities, collaborate and learn from each other. It’s an oasis to meet up with other musical travelers. Any skill level. Any instrument. A rainbow of diverse experiences, stories and sounds.
