Aquafarm Rotation #19: Whirlpools Edition (Apr 21st — May 5th)
Whirlpools will open to all of Solana on Monday, introducing concentrated liquidity for 10 staked SOL pairs and welcoming 3 new Double-Dip pools!
Aquafarm Rotation #19
- Duration: Thursday, April 21st, 2022 — Thursday, May 5th, 2022.
- Total Emissions: ~250K ORCA per week (new Whirlpool rewards begin on Tuesday, April 25th at 12:00 UTC).
- Events: Whirlpools will open for all Orca users this Rotation, starting on Monday 25th April! In the meantime, we encourage all ORCA tokenholders to vote in the Orca DAO’s first governance proposal to implement a Bug Bounty program. And if you’re a user of the Terra ecosystem, please vote on Terra’s governance proposal to create double and triple incentive Whirlpools!
Whirlpools
The Whirlpools Closed Beta has now run for four weeks. Having ironed out a few bugs and added a few pairs, we’re very happy to announce the public launch of Whirlpools on Monday April 25th!
We thank all members of the Orcanautical Community who pioneered this new frontier of our ecosystem. It’s now time to invite all our podmates to explore it too! 🐳
We’re also excited to start by bringing better capital efficiency to a few of our most beloved liquid staked SOL offerings — Marinade and Lido!
What can you expect from the public launch of Whirlpools?
Starting on Monday April 25th at ~12:00 UTC, all users will be able to deposit liquidity into any Whirlpool. Rewards will begin 24 hours later on Tuesday April 26th ~12:00 UTC, allowing all users the opportunity to deposit and earn at the same time. And in future Rotations, existing pools will be migrated from Double-Dips to Whirlpools.
The following Whirlpools will earn dual rewards in ORCA and our partner projects’ emissions.
- Marinade: mSOL/SOL, mSOL/USDT, mSOL/UST, mSOL/BTC, mSOL/ETH
- Lido: stSOL/SOL, stSOL/USDC, stSOL/USDT, stSOL/UST
For first time Whirlpools users: the yield farming experience on Whirlpools is significantly improved — no more staking of LP tokens, just deposit and earn, including Double-Dips!
Aquafarms
Most of the Aquafarms you know and love will continue, with a gradual transition to Whirlpools!
Orca’s Aquafarm liquidity mining has been running for ~8 months. During that period, we’ve seen significant progress in transitioning pools from emission based incentives to organic trading volume based incentives.
Additionally, even in Beta Whirlpools have demonstrated significantly improved capital efficiency. Our journey to provide the best rates for traders, higher yields for savvy LPs, and to further the growth of the Orca ecosystem through Whirlpools continues apace!
With that in mind, we will be migrating SOL/USDC, SOL/USDT, ORCA/SOL, ORCA/USDC rewards to Whirlpools with lower ORCA emissions on their Aquafarm counterparts (stay tuned for details on Whirlpool rewards!). This is to incentivize migration towards Whirlpools, with ORCA emissions on these Aquafarms transitioned out over the next two to three rotations.
Double-Dips
We also have a few fresh announcements and welcomes for Double-Dip pools:
#1: NOVA/USDC from the Nova Finance team!
- Double-Dip duration: April 21, 2022 — July 14, 2022
- Rewards: 50,000 NOVA (+ ORCA rewards)
#2: HBB/USDH from the Hubble team!
- Double-Dip duration: April 21, 2022 — July 14, 2022
- Rewards: 30,000 HBB (+ ORCA rewards)
#3: WMP/USDC from the Whalemap team has been refreshed and will begin earning ORCA rewards this rotation!
- Double-Dip duration: April 12, 2022 — July 3, 2022
- Rewards: 960,000 WMP (+ ORCA rewards)
#4: Lastly, the following Double-Dip pools will continue until at least April 21st:
- mSOL-MNDE
- COPE-USDC
- CMFI-USDC
- UNQ-USDC
