Evolution of Organization

Organization as a Key to Sucess

Today I was reading, Company Organization and this talked about many different approaches to organization. The one that stood out most to me was the classical approach. This viewed organization “as a machine, which is built according to a plan with a rigid specification.” This ideology stood out to me because it is a very old approach at looking at organization. This is organization that is very clear cut and allows for very little change or movement. I feel that it is very unrealistic in common times, and honestly do not really understand how it ever worked, even for just a little bit of time.

Organization now still has a firm structure, but it must allow for lots of room for movement and change. Things do not always go perfectly in life so it is hard to have such a firm, set structure. I think that if I were to base my schedule these past 2 weeks on a very rigid structure it would have been much more difficult to follow through and actually learn to become more organized.

My schedule this week has been really hectic with a lot of homework, many tests and also preparing to go home for a weekend, so I have had to squeeze in a lot and make time for things that I also didn’t expect. Being flexible in my schedule has allowed me to stay pretty much on track day by day and make sure I’m completing everything that needs to be done. If I was following the classical approach I don’t think I would have gotten everything done because I would have gotten stressed out by the fact that things weren’t getting done by the exact time that I had hoped. Being able to reorganize and adjust to changes made getting through a difficult week easier.
