Final Reflection
Throughout the last two weeks I have learned a lot about organization, as well as things about myself. I think the most important thing I learned is that organization cannot be done on its own, there are many pieces and parts included in it. The major steps to organizing were:
1. Starting fresh with a clean slate
2. Creating a base routine and writing down a “to do list”
3. Prioritizing what needs to be completed
4. Adjusting and reevaluating based on what is working and not working
Having these steps created a starting point for getting organized, as well as having a way to follow through and stay organized without giving up after a day.
Besides just the steps to getting and staying organized, I realized that time management also plays a huge role in making sure you get everything done. I was reading my classmate, David Killian’s blog and I realized that his blog on time management had many very similar concepts to my posts on organization. These two soft skills go together because in order to stay organized you need to be able to watch your time and make sure you are getting things done at a proper pace. One quote that truly stuck out to me was that “what [he] really came to realize was that we’re only bad or inefficient at certain soft skills because we don’t really put the time in to truly try fixing our bad habits.” I feel that this spoke to me because it is honestly very true, before this project I believed it was going to be difficult to break old habits and become more organized, but as the weeks progressed I realized that all I needed was some motivation and a set schedule to get me to follow through with it.
The past two weeks have been truly eye-opening on what I can do when I set my mind to something. Even when this blog is complete and I no longer have to document my progress, I will definitely continue to work on staying organized. Once I am in this routine it will start to become a huge part of my daily life and I will no longer have to think as hard about doing it, it will become instinct.
