Prioritize

Organization as a Key to Sucess

So far this week I have talked about the beginning stages of organization and how it is important to start with a clean slate. Next, I talked out how focus and routine are very important qualities in staying organized. As my week has gone by, I have been able to keep my desk relatively clean. The biggest problem I have had is when I just run into my room and throw something on my desk and tell myself “I’ll get that later,” because typically I forget to clean it later. The best way I have found to fix this is to clean the area every night before bed and then I wake up in the morning and it is clean.

As for the second step, by writing down my schedule I have been able to ensure that I am not forgetting to do any of my homework for the week. Another part of this that I have found helpful is writing long term tests and projects in either a phone calendar or wall calendar. This makes it easier to plan ahead and make sure you start studying early for tests or prepare a project before it is due.

The newest step that I have been working on is to prioritize my work. I have begun color coding my schedule in order of what needs to be done most urgently. For the most part school work and tests are on the top of my list, but I also have to do stuff that is valuable to my position in my sorority and that has a due date. Many of the other little things that do not matter as much I make time for in my free time, especially because most of those things are more fun and enjoyable activities to do. Adding this into the previous steps will help you to organize even more.
