Setting up your Luno wallet — which you need to store your Bitcoin — is quick and easy. Once you have done this, you can enter your unique code and your Bitcoin will be instantly credited to your account.

After that, you can top-up or send and receive cryptocurrency instantly anywhere around the world.

Here’s how to sign-up on the web: (eg via a PC)

Like most apps, it is usually much easier and quicker to sign up via your smart phone (see below for instructions) but it IS possible to do it via a PC if you prefer. Just follow these simple steps:

1. Go to https://www.luno.com/signup (or select the “Sign Up” button on the home page)

2. Enter your email address or use the option to sign up with Google or Facebook

3. Pick a strong, secure password (ideally with a combination of letters, numbers and special characters)

4. Select “Sign up”

Once you’ve signed up, Luno will send you an email with a link to follow. This is to confirm that you have access to the email address you’ve signed up with.

If you do not see the email in your inbox, check your spam folder — sometimes our email is flagged by spam filters.

You must verify your account before you enter your code. Go to ‘profile’, ‘settings’ and ‘verification’ to follow the simple process there. This is the usual photo ID and “mug shot” that is required by all banking apps to comply with global AML (Anti Money Laundering) and KYC (Know Your Customer) regulations.

Verification is usually instant and the whole process should only take 2–3 mins, although sometimes it can take up to 24 hours. Only after this is done must you enter your code. If you do it before, you may invalidate it permanently.

Once you have completed the process, go to ‘Rewards’ and select ‘Enter a Code’. Type in the unique promotional code you have been given and your £10 will be credited immediately. If you have stumbled across this page and have no promotional code to enter, simply email jasondeane@msn.com and I’ll send you one.

Remember, Luno promotional codes are usually designed for new customers and new wallets. Most codes will not work for existing customers.

2. Tap Profile on the Menu and follow the prompt to sign-up
