ORIGIN Bootcamp is hosting a no-cost, virtual entrepreneurship bootcamp designed to guide college students from idea creation to product demonstration alongside Online Career Fair — a platform created by Turazo, that connects industry experts with college students to gain mentorship and insight into potential careers.

After observing the impact COVID-19 had on college students nationwide by canceling many of their highly anticipated summer opportunities, two recent college graduates, Claire Pan and Lyana Geng, and a rising senior, Jessica Chen, teamed up to found ORIGIN, a free eight-week virtual entrepreneurship bootcamp. The three co-founders first conceived the idea of ORIGIN in March and hit the ground running to get the program ready in time for the summer. They wanted to ensure that students still had the opportunity to enrich themselves, expand their skill-set, and learn from professionals despite the constraints of the pandemic.

ORIGIN’s mission is to promote innovative thinking by providing students with a creative and accessible opportunity for professional growth. Student teams face the challenge of creating a venture that relates to one of four United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

With the help of Online Career Fair, ORIGIN will provide 260 students from 61 universities and 13 countries this summer with free, hands-on coaching sessions to turn their venture from an idea into a tangible business plan. The Online Career Fair network has top industry professionals from 200+ companies and educational institutions, including Salesforce, Google, and Harvard. These coaches provide college students with guidance about career growth and personal development, as well as how to navigate the hiring process in their industry or company. Over 95% of Online Career Fair users would recommend the service to a classmate or colleague and many users are finding internship and job opportunities from their experience. Turazo co-founder, Meghan O’Leary said,

“We’re thrilled to partner with ORIGIN and bring our technology to support their incredible mission and the students who are taking part in the program. Our goal with Online Career Fair is to help as many university students and recent graduates on their path toward launching a great career — whether it is finding a job or turning their idea into a business — and we look forward to a great summer with ORIGIN.”

The coaching connections by Online Career Fair will be crucial in supporting participants through the difficult process of starting their own venture and offers them the unique opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals. For most, ORIGIN will be their first opportunity to apply their classroom skills to a real-life application. The participants look forward to not only gaining insights on their business strategy but also being able to more authentically interact with companies and professionals.

Online Career Fair makes managing your time as a coach easy. Through the onboarding process, you can manage your commitment so you never get overcommitted. To help these students achieve their goals, we are looking for professionals like you that can provide at least two 30 minute sessions over the next two months. Looking to connect and give back during this time?
