Hello, I’m Mila Choi, Origin’s Korea Regional Manager! I’d like to take some time to update you on Origin Protocol’s community and outreach efforts in South Korea, one of the biggest and most enthusiastic markets for blockchain and cryptocurrency in the world. Nearly 10% of South Koreans have purchased cryptocurrency and South Korea has some of the largest trade volumes in the world!
I recently started working out of the Hashed office. Hashed are our lead investors in Korea, one of the most influential crypto investment funds in the world, and definitely a “key opinion leader” (KOL) in Korea. It has been a great experience working with all the amazing people at Hashed and their other portfolio projects.
I also had the pleasure of hosting our superstar Product Manager and Engineer, Micah Alcorn, for his first ever trip to Korea. It was a ton of fun and we even converted him to a meat eater with delicious Korean BBQ. Micah completed technical workshops and presentations at Korea University, one of the best universities in the country, and Sunlin Internet High School, a special high school focusing on technology development. It was great to share all the amazing work the Origin team has been doing with the future tech leaders of South Korea.
Micah also gave a keynote presentation at the KEYplatform 2019 conference about Origin and our blockchain platform. KEYplatform is a major conference covering government, entrepreneurship, and new technologies attended by major multinational corporations. It was really cool to see Micah get on stage and present to a huge audience.
We were also able to do a joint meetup with our partners, MakerDAO, during this trip. Micah showed the audience how to use DAI, the USD stablecoin by MakerDAO, on Origin’s Marketplace DApp. We think that live and interactive demonstrations of our product separate us from many blockchain projects. We are building something real and usable right now!
Anna Wang, our China Regional Manager, and I represented Origin at ETHCon Seoul conference that was held this past weekend. We led a live 1:1 demo of Origin Marketplace mobile DApp at the Origin booth. Origin gained strong attraction from more than 300 conference attendees. It was a pleasure to meet with our Korean community in person.
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about Origin in Korea!
