Greg Kidd, an early investor in Twitter, Coinbase, and Square, joins Trace Labs’ advisory board — core OriginTrail team

Greg Kidd is an adviser and an early or a first round investor through the investment firm Hard Yaka for numerous reputable companies including Coinbase, Shift (now Apto), Ripple, Protocol Labs (the company behind the Filecoin), Uphold, Solana, Robinhood, Square and Twitter. He previously served as the director of Promontory Financial and senior analyst for payments for the Federal Reserve Board of Governor. Greg is a believer that one’s identity credentials should be truly portable and owned by individuals themselves rather than corporations or governments, which led him to found and lead GlobaliD — a universal identity solution that is easy to use, ties users to unique names, and transcends borders and institutions.
All of this makes Greg an outstanding supporter for privacy by design and decentralization principles also being instilled by OriginTrail, which is the core open source product Trace Labs has been developing and maintaining for the last five years. We are delighted Greg is joining the Trace Labs — core OriginTrail team advisory board. Dr. Bob Metcalfe, the Internet pioneer, also recently joined the advisory board and is helping apply Metcalfe’s Law for data value prediction to OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph.
Linking data about things, attestations, and people in a decentralized and privacy preserving manner brings a great deal of complementarity between GlobaliD tools and the wider Hard Yaka ecosystem. We are therefore delighted to announce also that Hard Yaka has become a strategic partner of Trace Labs — core OriginTrail team, supporting us with organising humanity’s most important assets, making them discoverable, verifiable and valuable.
Trace Labs, operating from Slovenia, Serbia, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom, has successfully deployed the OriginTrail technology stack with some of the leading global government and private organizations in supply chains, transportation, healthcare, and elsewhere. The OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG) is a network of 1,000+ nodes deployed globally. It is currently integrated with several blockchains, such as Ethereum, Xdai, Polygon, and Polkadot (integration in progress) and gives organizations and individuals the tools to make information about their assets discoverable, verifiable, and valuable.
OriginTrail is being used as a backbone for information exchange about various attestations/certifications held by individuals, companies or products. For instance, the Supplier Compliance Audit Network Association (SCAN) supports retailers like Walmart, JCPenney, and Costco (representing 40% import to the United States) by allowing for key audit points, factory credentials, and audit indicators on more than 21,000 factories to be stored on OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph. Using data permissioning features, information can be shared with interested government agencies, such as US Customs and Border Protection and other mutually recognized governing bodies.
OriginTrail is also used by global pharmaceutical companies and NGOs to maximize the availability, quality, and safety of medicine, and vaccines, ensuring they reach the right patients at the right time. Trace Labs supported the British Standards Institution in integrating the OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph and GS1 standards in a solution that enables product authentication, tracks patient utilization, and highlights any diversion of medicine for unintended use.
