To provide the OriginTrail community with more information on the Open Call for Data Contributions and ensure sufficient participation, we have made certain modifications to the important dates initially published in the blogpost announcing the campaign.

TL;DR

The COVID-19 crisis has revealed weak points in the procurement of medical equipment. As the number of suppliers went up quickly, many that had no track record in the sector were attempting to profit at the expense of public budgets and national healthcare systems. No reliable system that would allow buyers of medical supplies to verify supplier profiles is available to date. Many manual verifications are needed, rendering the purchase processes highly prone to errors. To tackle these issues, the Trace Alliance will leverage the OriginTrail Decentralized Network (ODN) to build a decentralized Trusted COVID-19 Essential Supplies Repository (tCESR) for global information about essential supplies for COVID-19 emergencies. With this single-source-of-truth repository built on the ODN, governments, businesses, and individuals will be able to seamlessly access relevant information about a particular product essential to fighting COVID-19 outbreaks. Open data will be collected with a crowdsourcing campaign and made available on the network to be accessed by anyone.

Taking part in the campaign is rewarding, as selected candidates (30 contributors at maximum will be selected ) will receive additional training on how to structure data to be recorded in the OriginTrail Decentralised Network (ODN) and will be given exclusive access to use the Network Operating System (nOS) Tool to publish it via the campaign dedicated data creator node. After successful data contribution, the candidates will receive awards in TRAC based on the quality of data sets provided.

What to expect as a selected data contributor?

For anyone considering to join the campaign as a data contributor, we describe the process for contributing data in the nine steps:

  1. Fill out a form for application and get approved as data contributor (max. 30 contributors will be selected based on the references provided);
  2. Upon approval, you receive login credentials for nOS with preloaded credits required to upload the data;
  3. Users (selected data contributors) need to add their wallet for TRAC compensation pay-outs;
  4. In the nOS, you can access the WHO list of relevant products and an Excel template dataset that the users can download and populate with relevant data. More advanced users can submit OT-JSON formatted datasets as well;
  5. Once a contributor creates a dataset, it can be submitted in the nOS;
  6. After submission, credits get subtracted and the dataset is securely transferred to the data creator node on the ODN;
  7. Submitted dataset gets validated by Trace Labs team
  8. If valid, assessment is made as to how many additional graph elements (vertices and edges) the dataset has produced, which will be base for the compensation
  9. Compensation is paid out to the provided wallets.
