Orion Innovation Turkey

Before I start my article, I would like to express my gratitude to my manager, mentors, teammates, and other colleagues who helped me in every way for their efforts during my internship.

Smart Office Team Family

Orio Innovation Turkey means a synonym for the family for me from now on. not consider your location only as a business enviro. The value given to the employee in Orion culture is priceless. It is a company where everyone does their best to help each other, and the problems are not ignored. Days before I started the internship, my manager wrote to me privately and expressed that he was very pleased that I joined them. Even though I was a trainee candidate, she showed me the respect of an experienced engineer. The warm welcome shown to me on the first day of my arrival impressed me. The way they spoke in the company was very friendly and approachable. I was very surprised at this as it was a new adventure for me. All my teammates welcomed me warmly and sincerely stated that I could contact them without hesitation in case of any problems I might encounter. At the daily scrum meetings held every morning, my hands would shake every time first. I was afraid that I would make a wrong sentence and humiliate myself. But any of your mistakes or wrong statements are never found strange in the team. On the contrary, we used to make big mistakes by giving examples from them. They can motivate you even if you make mistakes by using sentences like you are very good. The friends that my manager appointed as mentors did not only share their work experience with me. They talked about the problems they encountered outside of work, and the difficult processes they went through, and saw me as a brother and supported me with all their sincerity. Of course, in response to this interest and relevance, I had to do my best. I have always tried to give the tasks given to me above expectations. The value shown to people is so high that you feel ashamed no matter what you do. Speaking of feeling embarrassed, I want to tell you a little memory.

One day I couldn’t attend the morning daily scrum meetings because I fell asleep. Then I told an innocent lie to my manager. I said I couldn’t attend on a special occasion. Against this, my manager said to me directly, “Are you okay, I hope there is no problem, if there is anything I can do for you, please tell me and it doesn’t matter if you can’t work.” I felt ashamed after this reaction and now I admit it. I want to apologize to my manager here. She always protected and cared for her employees like a mother. You understand why I define it as a synonym for the word family, not as words can describe my team.

Training and Social Activities

During the internship, we were given various pieces of training. Front-end training came first. New generation framework presentations and sample applications were made. Afterward, there was an orientation seminar and besides these, many social events, organizations, and training took place within the tech club. Speaking of Techclub, I want to tell you about TechCLub. It is the organization where social activities and events in the company are carried out within the body of Orion Innovation Turkey. Can interns also become members? If you are wondering, yes it is, weekly meetings are held by the tech club. If you have any good ideas for the development of the company or as a social activity, they are discussed and put into practice. There is no difference in status here, even if you are a trainee, a logical and good idea that you suggest can be put into practice. Apart from this, your article on medium.com will be published on the Orion Innovation Turkey page within the company.

Projects and Responsibilities

To become a qualified engineer, you are provided to work on projects that will develop you. The first project given to me required serious responsibility and effort. I have been asked to develop a project that will do UI Testing of the application the team is working on. They showed me how much they care about me by giving me such a big responsibility. For my test automation project, my mentors asked me to research and present which test tool I would be working with. After doing my research and making the presentation, all the experienced engineers in the team gave their opinions and we decided to work on Taiko. Since dev will be used in the project in the future, it will be much more convenient for me and my team. Taiko is not a known test automation tool, it is a very new and great testing tool. Due to the privacy policy of the company, it would not be right to give more details about my project, but friends who are curious about what Taiko is can read my article named Taiko. developer Other projects I’ve done were initially about pulling data with the Fetch API and async-await keywords. I made a project that returns a random number of users, comments, and posts. jsonplaceholder.com which uses fake APIs. I developed the other project using React.js. In the project, I prepared an up-to-date shopping list using React.js useState, useEffect, React Router Dom and fetch. You can save, delete and select the product you want by typing in the application. In addition, it will show you which of your products registered in the search section you want to reach, by typing its initials or the whole world. You can click here to see the Github repository. Another application of mine was about colors. Again, using React.js, I made a study in which the desired color was written and the color of the relevant part of the page was changed with the color entered. You can access the Github repository by clicking here. Apart from that, I made a project about creating all post users and comments in tabular form according to the button clicked on the placeholder site with the help of Fetch Api using React.js. You can access the Github repository by clicking here. In addition to these applications, I have implemented a few more applications and I am currently working on a full-stack project where I developed the front and back end together. With these studies, both my testing and developer aspects have improved thanks to the correct guidance and follow-up of my mentors. I feel very lucky and proud to have done my internship at Orion Innovation Turkey. I would like to give one last piece of advice to friends who want to come here. If you want to be in such an excellent company, you have to push your limits. Thank you for reading my article, I hope I have provided useful information.
