Configuring Metamask for Osmosis users
Quick guide to adding different networks and tokens to your wallet
Without changing any settings Metamask works only with Ethereum network. Similar to Keplr it is versatile, purpose-built for multiple tokens and networks, it just needs to be told how to see and interact with the networks you choose. The key difference here being you must enter the connection settings manually.
Before you can interact with networks like Evmos, Avalanche or any other EVM-based chains you will need to input some simple parameters for each chain.
Adding custom networks
- Start by opening the ‘Networks’ menu and selecting ‘Add Network’
- Lastly, input the info from Chainlist or from Axelar official documentation to add the desired network(s)
Adding custom tokens
After adding networks, continue by adding the hex addresses for the tokens you want to work with on each network, so they show on the wallet UI. This is mostly optional for the purposes outlined here, it’s more for those who are particular about everything “working”
Find the token/contract address using a block explorer like Etherscan or a reputable price tracking site such as Coingecko and select ‘import tokens’ from the bottom of the assets tab in the wallet extension.
A full list of axl-compatible tokens on each network can be found in official Axelar docs.
