Tell us about yourself!
I work out of the Pune office in India and have been with the company for the last 6 years now. I have my family living out of Mumbai whereas I’m in Pune and travel every weekend to Mumbai covering a distance of 100 odd miles to make sure I spend the weekend with them. I spend Monday to Friday in Pune and back again to Mumbai on Friday evenings. I’ve been born and raised up in Mumbai where I completed my education. I’ve worked with the Healthcare & Hospitality industries post which I’ve been in the IT / ITES sector.
I love to drive, that’s why I’m always super excited to hit the road every weekend for the 100 odd mile drive to my family. It usually takes around 3 hours and that’s where I have my ME time. The max I’ve driven at a stretch here in India is about 13 hrs covering ~500 miles over 3 states.
What excites you about blockchain?
The same reason why people love other powerful new technology! I feel blockchain technology will mould our future. It’s decentralized, it’s a much more secure way of holding and storing data, it EMPOWERS USERS, and it can create faster transactions. This is like the internet of the 90’s and the dot-com era. For me, blockchain as a technology has some potentially revolutionary impacts. Even if you’re not interested or involved with fintech, the blockchain has the potential to impact your life both personally and professionally. For example, transfer of money involves high transaction costs and a time due to intermediaries and regulatory requirements. With the blockchain tech coming in, peer to peer or B2B transactions would be simple, cost effective, faster, and secure.
Can you tell us about your experience as Administration Director at OST?
At OST, my role entails providing tactical support for the smooth functioning of the business. I’ve been into operations management including facilities, administration, travel, hospitality and HR for more than a decade and the experience from the various industries that I’ve worked with helps me ensure that.
At OST, it’s not just your role that one is involved in but you are given multiple opportunities to learn new skills and be a contributor to the entire project. Each member is ready to take on multiple roles as and when required and that’s what makes it super interesting. For example, during the Simple Token ICO back in 2017, I was given an opportunity to contribute to the project on the KYC front. That involved communicating and interacting with our KYC partners and working with them prior to the ICO and then during the entire period of the ICO. This was like a 24/7 effort that a few team members including myself took on completely. We were super delighted by the results! Not to mention that the same team was also up and working on the support front. So yes, working at OST is altogether a different experience.
What do you look forward to for OST in 2019?
2019 is all about delivery. We will have our partners going LIVE on OST. The promises that we made back in 2017 will be delivered in 2019. To start off, we are all gearing up for the Beta launch for OpenST Protocol 0.10.0 This is going to be super exciting and the team is all in for the final stretch of this launch. There’s more exciting stuff to follow, like the beta of OST Mosaic, KIT and BTEX. Each team member has been waiting for this to see this come to fruition and the support team is ready to ensure that the ride for the team is smooth and comfortable. Like Jason says, “Just keep your head down and build. Results win.”
Thank you, Ashfaq!
