Tell us about yourself

I was born and grew up in Delhi, India. I was a Navy kid, my father was in the Navy, which is why I lived all over the country. At some point I moved every two years, so I’ve had a very diverse lifestyle. I have a weakness for the sea, I love beaches, I love traveling, and I love exploring new cuisine and cultures. I moved to Berlin a few months ago when I joined OST.

What led you to blockchain technology?

Blockchain is perfect for a consultant for two reasons. First, blockchain as a technology is still at an early stage, both from a technical standpoint and applicational use. People are still trying to figure out consensus mechanisms, governance, interoperability, and business models in the blockchain space. There is momentum around early stage startups that wear a “disruptive hat” and see blockchain as a means to disrupt existing business models.

On the other hand you have large companies that want to stay relevant in an evolving technology space and want to engage with their community of users who are increasingly demanding more value. The rest of the world beyond blockchain is trying to understand what blockchain can offer. There are a lot of questions for industries beyond blockchain on how blockchain can help them work through some of these challenges and stay competitive.

What does your role as Director of Blockchain Strategy Consulting entail?

I lead the team that’s responsible for driving success for our partners. We specialize in blockchain so we see ourselves as experts in blockchain and we are very hands on with our partners. We work closely with partners and help them work through what their business goals are and how OST’s blockchain technology can help them drive those business goals. Our core work with partners is to help them understand what kind of token economy best fits their business model. We then help them design these token economies in which they can leverage their own branded tokens.

Token economy design includes laying out actors in an ecosystem, the actions that those actors engage in, and the incentives that can help drive different actions. We see these as microeconomics of in-platform economies. Most importantly, it includes crypto economics, which determines what incentive mechanism can drive these token economies in a decentralized and self-driving manner.

If you could choose one hobby that now seems out of your reach either financially or time-wise, what would it be?

Recently I have been thinking about hobbies that are more creative with materials because this is something I have never done. I feel like the right side of my brain, the artistic side, if I really have one, hasn’t worked through those kind of activities. If I had the time, I would love to learn pottery, sculpting, or woodwork.

THANK YOU, MOHIT!
