#106: The report of the special talk from the celebration of the “edge2 concept magic” release anniversary! Featuring Shingo Adachi, Kiyotaka Oshiyama, Tetsuya Nakatake & “Fans-chan” (CV:Chiaki Omigawa)
The DNP sponsored “DNP FUN’S PROJECT” held creators talk event on the 8th of September 2019 in commemoration of the release anniversary of “edge2 concept magic”. The event was held in the DNP Plaza using the 2F Event Zone (Tokyo, Shinjuku-ku, Ichigayata-cho, 1–14–1 DNP Ichigayata-cho building).
At the event, “Attack on Titan” Animation producer and producer of the book, Tetsuya Nakatake (WIT Co-Founder and Company Director) along with “Sword Art Online” Character Designer and General Animation Director Shingo Adachi, “Flip Flappers” Director Kiyotaka Oshiyama and FUN’S PROJECT official character “Fans-chan” (CV:Chiaki Omigawa) engaged in 2 hours of passionate conversations.
The tone for the talk show was set from the get go with Fans-chan’s high tension leading the introduction to the theme surrounding edge2. This was then followed by Shingo Adachi taking the floor providing a rich dialogue for the audience, filled with anecdotal stories of his time at Xebec, the trials he had to face in the past and all the animators he looked up to and respected over the years.
According to Fans-chan (CV:Chiaki Omigawa), This led the excited MC to proceed to liven up the venue with her passion.
The abundant topics of choice and discussions began to unfold.
In order to produce the edge2, Mr Nakatake (picture’s left) directly gathered Mr. Adachi as well as the other creators.
Mr. Adachi (Picture’s left) and Mr. Oshiyama (Picture’s right) can be seen discussing their time in Xebec Inc. Mr. Oshiyama expressed that “Being able to talk about the stories of our time there is really fun.” The pair had previously had a senior/junior style of relationship while in Xebec.
Another point to pay attention to is that during the event Mr. Adachi and Mr. Oshiyama both performed a live drawing session each. With a real time drawing-like commentary by Fans-chan which got the crowd even more excited during the occasion.

Mid-live drawing, the very interested Mr. Oshiyama chimed in with his own commentary, emphasising the differences between a Manga artist and an Animator when it comes to the way characters are designed and drawn.
During Mr. Oshiyama’s turn to perform a live drawing, Mr. Adachi earnestly commented “I wanted to be able to draw like this…”
The event closed with all of the guests signing the illustration collection and a commemorative photo with Fans-chan.
Even with Typhoon 15 gradually getting closer, the event went off without a hitch and the weather held out for the duration of the event. Not to mention Fans-chan exciting MC-ing which kept the crowd in high spirits and laughing throughout the event.
Also, during the event a lottery was held for one lucky winner. That person was able to receive a duplicate of the original images, signed by Mr. Adachi and Mr. Oshiyama right there in front of them. After the event finished these duplicates of the original images are expected to go online for presale on the “FUN’S PROJECT MARKET”. There is a limit of 30 pieces per illustration on sale and will only be receiving reservations will only be available until the 30th of September.

Animator/ Character Designer
during his time in high school, he entered the Manga Research department and was already drawing copies and illustrations. While his designs used simple lines the characters needed charm are always beautifully expressed.
He had his character design debut in the TV series “Meteor Rockman”, and also served as the character design and general drawing director in the TV series “Sword Art Online” and “WORKING!!”.

During the Annecy International Animated Film Festival NEW MOTION -The Next Of Japanese Animation- He was recommended as Japan’s representative animator with the ability to craft works using both techniques tailored to the nature of the work and appealing to the viewer through his own specific drawing style.
He made his name known to the industry by drawing “Coil A Circle Of Children” and has worked as a screenwriter/director, drawing director, and original artist for “Space ☆ Dandy”. He was also the first director of “Flip Flappers”.
■Tetsuya Nakatake
Animation producer born on November 16, 1979. After working at Production IGCo.,Ltd., he established WIT STUDIO Co.,Ltd. in 2012, serving as the company’s co-founder and director.
He has produced TV anime series “ Attack on Titan”, “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” and “Guilty Crown”.
