Shaking Japan and gripping the hearts of fans through powerful franchises, Tatsunoko Production’s name can be seen on many of the leading anime series even today.
Tatsunoko Production continues to be connected to masterpieces like Gatchaman, the representative hero carved into the history of Japanese anime, as well as Macross, Evangelion, Psycho-Pass, Full Metal Panic!, Sket Dance, and others, and the studio continues to surprise anime fans around the world through combining traditions and novel ideas.
We sat down for an interview with company president Yuzo Kawahara and the head of the production department, Yutaka Oomatsu. From kids to adults, Tatsunoko Production’s works are deeply rooted in hero stories. Their intention to bring dreams to the children of the world can be understood through seeing their extreme popularity around the world. Even for us as adults, the existence of heroes is deeply engraved into our hearts due to their stories. The studio has broken convention with King of Prism and in doing so has gained new expression through the use of digital 2D animation. Tatsunoko Production is constantly forging a new path and will continue to create works that remain in the hearts of fans everywhere.
