Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the staff members and the families affected by the terrible tragedy that took place at Kyoto Animation’s main studio. To everyone injured, we wish you a speedy recovery.

Recently, we have been receiving an extremely large amount of inquiries from fans using the app. In particular, there are many fans that want Kyoto Animation added to the list of Japanese anime studios fans can send messages of support to, a project that we began in December 2018. There are also fans asking if they can contribute to KyoAni using Otaku Coins.

We have been wondering what we can do to help KyoAni. And what we can do right now is convey to KyoAni how much we love them and declare our support for them now and always.

We think that the only thing the Otaku Coin Association can do for now is to make the voices of fans all over the world heard by delivering support messages to KyoAni.

KyoAni has produced so many wonderful pieces of art which have touched our hearts, now is the time to let them feel our love for them.

Furthermore, we’ve explained our support message project previously along with each of the interviews we’ve been conducting with anime studios as part of the collaborative project between Tokyo Otaku Mode and Anime!Anime! as well as other media outlets.

This time, however, we want you to be aware that in relation to these messages of support, we’ll be running the project without seeking prior acknowledgement from Kyoto Animation or any of the other related parties.

For that reason, we have decided that we need to be considerate of KyoAni and its staff, and if they decline to be a part of the project there is a possibility that the messages of support will not be able to be delivered. Please bear this in mind.

Right now, we’re hearing from fans all around the world and want to help those messages get through so we’re pushing full steam ahead with the support message project. We especially hope that the messages from overseas fans can be delivered.

Once again, we’d like to convey our heartfelt sympathies to all the creatives and members of staff, as well as their families, who have been affected by these terrible events.
