Activity Report Vol.28: Otaku Coin Wallet App in Development
Report on the current progress of the Otaku Coin wallet app everyone’s wondering about!
Remember when the Otaku Coin wallet app was announced? Now we have an update!
Different from typical wallet apps, the Otaku Coin wallet app is being developed by the Otaku Coin Preparation Committee to help unite the otaku community through the Otaku Coin cryptocurrency as well as provide users with the latest information on Otaku Coin. It will also include other useful features.
The following are prototype images of the Otaku Coin wallet app. Since the app is still in development, the look of it might differ at launch.
Our blueprint for the app is nearly complete! Here is an update on the development progress and decisions we’ve made so far.
To answer the question, “How can we make Otaku Coin and the Otaku Coin wallet app benefit the otaku community?” we held 1-hour long interviews with 30 otaku of different fandoms, which those who follow us on social media might have heard about already. We listened to their requests and expectations of Otaku Coin.
In short, there was a wide variety of fandoms and degree of otakuness among the otaku interviewed. The Otaku Coin Preparation Committee is genuinely eager to fulfill all the expectations of users and held a meeting for an entire day to get a strong start at tackling the matter.
One result of the meeting was the decision to include a feature with enables users to directly support anime creators. All anime otaku undeniably want to support and cheer on the anime studios and creators they like and wish to see more wonderful works from them, as well as be able to directly express their appreciation of them. To fulfill these passionate desires, implementation of this feature was decided!

We will do our best on adding the features that can demonstrate the benefit of Otaku Coin at first when we release the wallet. Yet, we do not forget the ultimate goal that we want to achieve with Otaku Coin Wallet, which is to create a decentralized cryptocurrency for the otaku community by helping us reach a new level of convenience, fluidity, and security. Before we reach there, updates and adjustments will be needed, but it is our goal to make the app one you can easily use. Basic features such as transfers, transaction history, and balance will be included. Make sure to download the app once it is released to be fully prepared for the previously announced Otaku Coin airdrop to come.
The application will be available for iOS and Android devices in Japanese and English. It is expected to launch in September 2018. We’ll continue to do our best developing it and will announce a release date in the future. Be on the lookout so you can download it before the Otaku Coin airdrop!
