Standing on the balcony of her work building, Vida looks toward the city of Accra and down on stifling traffic below. This is the best place to take her break in her opinion. Close to her office desk, but far from the heat of the office rush. Vida could take in the breeze despite her constricting dress and a painfully tight shoes, but even that wasn’t enough. She yearns for the rain to come and cool her down like it did on her Saturday morning run. The heavy downpour caught her off-guard, but she felt like she was in heaven under its downpour. Vida danced in the streets as if Mr. Eazi’s latest song switched on in her head. She kicked her heels in glee and twirled in the rain. On-lookers thought she was mad, but she felt freer than she ever felt in a long time. The joy in that moment had her longing for the rain and its cool freedom, but Vida knew it was so far away. She walked back inside, still dreaming about that moment.
