Mother’s Day Call with Some Bitterness

a poem

Photo by Andrew Neel on Unsplash

Tomorrow I’ll call. Say all the right
things in the right tone and end with
an honest, “I love you mom.”

But the salt in the my ten year old
self’s divorce memory wound still stings
and he won’t forgive so easy.
