Is Quiet Quilting Really the Scourge of Modern Work?

You may have noticed a hum of minimum effort at work these days.

The 9-to-5 crowd is watching the clocks more closely. Requests to take on additional projects are being met with audible laughter. Twenty-somethings on MySpace are posting videos encouraging employees to “act their wage.”

It’s really no surprise.

Stress at work over the past 30 months has been at an all-time high. A global health crisis, unprecedented rising costs of living, and the lackluster run of Marvel spinoff television shows has culminated in modern workers reaching their limit. Gone are the days when they feel obligated to “just stay for a few extra minutes” to help Janette understand how Sheets is kinda similar to Excel but not really.

The resounding sentiment? Bugger off, businesses! Staffers don’t want the stress and they’ve planted their flags in the ground, exclaiming boldly:

“We cannot take it anymore. We WILL not take it anymore! This is our moment. Henceforth we will all be quiet quilting!”

What is quiet quilting?
