So Many Choices
When the names of candidates started coming out onto the news, I am sure most of you were overwhelmed by the choices, as was I. All of these individuals have some strength that we need in a leader. If I could take a few good points from each, then we would have a perfect candidate, but I cannot. Some days I sit back and watch all of these Republicans try to gain in the polls, by publicly speaking out on sensitive issues, some fail and some succeed in gaining attention.
I do not believe that the media has been giving us our fair share of all of the candidates. I believe that the media chooses what to show us, and some people do not recognize that is a huge problem. All candidates deserve equal time to get their ideas out to the voters. The polls could be completely different if all the information was streamed to the public, not just snippets of sensationalism that ruffle feathers for five seconds.
I have signed up to caucus for Rick Santorum at my local polling place. This is a first for me. I have always just gone in and voted, never making comments, looking around at those in line, and wondering who would win. We are so blessed to be able to freely vote for who our president should be. One experience I clearly remember was standing in line and hearing a Ron Paul supporter spouting off. Making comments that would get no one to vote for Ron Paul. This individual was actually harming Ron Paul’s reputation. The individual probably did not see this as an issue but I saw the problem. When I am caucusing, I will be respectful of all those who enter and ask questions, and respect their final decisions. My goal in this process is to make sure that the right candidate gets into the White House. I believe more younger individuals are seeing the importance of voting.
When going to the polls, stop and see those who are caucusing, and find out why they are passionate about that candidates. Maybe their passion will push you to vote for a different candidate that was not on your radar before. This should be a time where all voters are completely educated on the facts before voting. I know several of my friends who voted in past elections and they quickly realized their mistake. The popular kid is not always the best one to lead the group.
On a final note for all of the candidates, they are all running because they believe we need change, and they are correct. All of these people are scared for our future. Our country is currently considered to be free to make choices but our freedoms are slowly being stripped away. Monday will be a breaking point for those who believe strongly in our 2nd Amendment. Scary how we currently have a leader who puts his agenda in front of our Constitution.
