Why my origins and why now?

Who am I? I am a dentist, a mother, a blogger, a picture-taker, and a patriot who promotes India with every blog post.

Well, yes, but where am I from?

A railway brat

I’m the daughter of a railman who was transferred all over India and took me along.

Imagine an American child who studied in Texas, Wisconsin, California, New Jersey, Kansas and Georgia.

That’s me, but Indian.

My parents were from India’s southern state of Tamilnadu and I speak Tamil. My mother passed away in 2015.

The next question a probing auntie would ask is,

“What is your full name?”

Religion revealed by a name

This meant that they were asking me about my religion. Names like Roopa, which means “silver” in Sanskrit, could be Hindu, Muslim or Sikh.
