Polvoron is known in the Philippines as a sweet and crumbly shortbread made from flour, milk, sugar and butter.

It is a common snack enjoyed by many and also a good dessert, especially for kids.

The word “polvoron” came from the Spanish word “polvo” which means “powder” since polvoron is made from flour and powdered milk that easily crumbles in your mouth and turns to powder.

Usually wrapped in colorful cellophane or Japanese paper, it is a very attractive snack that can be taken anywhere you go (just be sure to handle it with care).

Polvoron is also known as polvorones in other parts of the world.

In Spain, it is a popular holiday delicacy and a common dessert during Christmas. It can also be called mantecado, the general term for various Spanish shortbreads that include the polvoron.

What we’re about to learn today, however, is the Philippine or Filipino version of polvoron. The ingredients are very simple and the process to prepare it is also very easy. You don’t even need to bake it just like its international counterparts.
