A little something to

From the minute the last slice of turkey is devoured, I’m all about the holiday season. I love Christmas: from the secular (which includes just about everything from vintage aluminum Christmas trees with rotating color wheels) to the sacred (which includes the birth of the little baby Jesus, Christmas carols, Advent wreaths and all that says about love, joy, hope and peace.

I use the seasonal greeting “happy holidays” frequently and in no way feel that my faith choices are being diminished by recognizing other people’s faith choices. But at the same time, I’ve been known to let a “Merry Christmas” rip regularly.

Gift giving is a huge part of the Christmas/holiday season in our culture. While some of you might not enjoy the actual procurement of the perfect gift, there are plenty of us who live for the thrill of the hunt and relish in it to the thrilling end of beholding the recipient’s face awash in delight when they’ve received an item given willingly and not for payment that fills a specific want or need, holds intrinsic meaning, or adds value to their life.
