Should parents talk to their kids about sexual identity and sex at a young age? I think they should so kids won’t be afraid to ask questions to their parents. Parents can talk to their kids about the consequences of sending nudes or being inappropriate at a young age. Parents should have an open conversation so teens and kids won’t be afraid to talk about their sexual identities and also really talk.

Gentle, soft talks won’t scare off your teen. According to Center For Parent And Teen Communication, having soft talks with teens is beneficial because kids will have the confidence to open up about uncomfortable or sensitive topics. Soft talk is when parents have a low tone of voice that’s not hostile when talking to the teen or kid. If parents have aggressive talks about sexual identities or other sensitive topics, teens won’t want to open up.

There are many consequences when sexting. According to The New York Times, teens do not know the negative consequences of sexting and sending nudes. Teens can be peer pressured and threatened because of what they sent. They can be getting blackmailed by the person asking for the pictures. Sending nudes can affect teens’ mental health, causing depression or social isolation. Teens get pressured to send nudes by their partners, not knowing what sending nudes can do. The boyfriend or girlfriend that pressured the other to send the nudes can leak the photo without the other partners consent. This can cause many problems. Parents talking about the consequences of sending nudes at a young age can be effective because then teens will know what comes with sending nudes.

Some people might say teenagers are too young to know or learn about sex. But they haven’t talked about the consequences that come with not knowing about sex. Teens should know about sex at a young age because there can be many risks.

In conclusion parents should talk to their kids about sexual identity and sex at a young age. This is important so kids or teens won’t make mistakes at a young age and they will know the consequences that come with sex. It’s also good for parents to be open with their kids about their sexual identities so their kids won’t be afraid to talk to them about how they feel about themselves.
