The Unity council

On our trip, we got to know about the Unity Council and were able to learn more about what they do. They help people from the community by providing services that would usually need some sort of English or money to obtain since 1964. When we went, we saw lots of posters and flyers for events, Jobs, and translated services that one might need if they are in need of help. From what I could understand, The Unity Council was made by the people of Oakland, for the people of Oakland and those new to Oakland. In a way, These people are not only helping the community but are actively being a part of it, And their building reflects that idea of being in the community. Since their building is located right outside the Fruitville “ entrance “ They are always in the center of Oakland and can interact with more people around the community. Unlike an office outside where not a lot of people live.

And I feel like the council has done so much behind the scenes. Growing up in this neighborhood, I’ve always seen the events that The Unity Council has put up without knowing who would plan them. I am sort of getting off-topic here, But in general, This org understands what makes the community a community and they also understand WHO is in the community to make that community. And by being able to understand the community, They can offer what the community needs. Whether that be helping file taxes, or setting up events to make them feel represented. To wrap this up, The Unity Council is an org that helps the people of the community, whether it be with education, housing, ETC.
