In Oakland, there is a huge community of people from many cultures. And with those cultures come different foods. Because of the overwhelming amount of food and drinks here in Oakland, you would get that feeling of dread when looking for food spots, whether that be the portion of the food, which foods give the best bang for your buck

Or just cause you’re hungry.

The food spots I’m going to be talking about AREN’T THE ONLY GOOD FOOD SPOTS, I am compiling food spots based on reviews and the actual taste, whether it be from me personally or from a friend. Some food spots I’m talking about are from around the Bay, including San Francisco, San Leandro, and Hayward. Plus, this list does not include ALL types of food, some food I couldn’t find in the Bay Area, others are too far for me to try OR they do not have enough reviews to give them a proper review.

Tacos El Paisa

2900 International Blvd, Oakland, CA 94601

Located on 29th St on International Blvd, Tacos El Paisa is a privately owned taco shop with the cheapest price range here in Oakland, they are a Mexican restaurant that is close by Latitude High, and if you want a quick bite Or if you are broke, this restaurant is a good spot if you want to leave school with a full stomach, or to go eat with your other broke friends, you can get a burrito for 7 bucks and more stuff under 15 dollars. The downside is that this place has gotten mixed reviews on review sites since it had to cut corners to cut costs. Other than that, it’s a good place to grab a quick bite.

Lucky Chef Chen

3542 International Blvd, Oakland, CA 94601

Lucky Chef Chen is a local Chinese restaurant on International Blvd near 35th St. it’s a more expensive option for Chinese food considering some other places are cheaper.

But here at this restaurant, you get what you pay for. The food is made with a lot of care and they put as much as the container can handle. This place is more on the fatty side because of their options. But it’s a perfect spot if you’re willing to pay the price. But If you’re broke and a night owl, they have discounts when closing. For example, there’s a buy-2-and-get-one-free offer, or you can download the toogood go app to get a 3 plate for 7. The plate is randomized, but if you don’t mind eating something new, this is the place for you. Depending on what you want, prices can go from 9 to 18 dollars a plate ( there are different options and different size containers ).

Pho Vy

Pho Vy, A Vietnamese restaurant located on International Blvd makes Vietnamese food and has been open for as long as I can remember. Pho Vy is a family-owned and operated food spot here in Oakland, they mainly focus on pho ( duh ) which is a rich soup with rice noodles and meat ( optional ), and bean sprouts. Whilst they do focus on pho, they also have other options that you can choose from, sadly all of their options have some sort of meat in it so it might be tricky finding vegetarian stuff ( if you’re vegetarian ). Overall the quality of their food has stayed consistent over the years. Right now a bowl of pho can cost from 13.50 to 16.00 dollars depending on what you want in your pho.

Conclusion

As you can see, Oakland has a large amount of different cuisines. Through this article, I was able to share some of the many different spots Oakland has to offer. This Article is BAERLY scratching the surface, there are different cultures here in oakland, and for that reason, I wont be able to fit that many food spots. I hope this article helps someone who can’t decide what to eat or to encourage searching for a food pallet
