Every makeup lover should have one nude lipstick…or more than fifteen, its fine, I don’t judge ya sis. However it is not so easy to find the perfect nude for the medium and darker melanin queens. This is why I went through my collection to find the perfect nude lipsticks for my women of colour, most of which you don’t even need a lipliner for, yay.
1.Taos Cosmetics Luxury lipstick in Hottie V: a stunning medium brown moisturising lipstick that has a demi-matte finish perfect for every skintone.
2. Maybelline Vivid matte liquid lipstick in Nude Flush: a pretty nude pink that never quite dries to a matte finish (which is weird considering the name); will need a nude or brown lipliner for deep skintones.
3. Rubellite cosmetics liquid lipstick in Odo Yewu: a light peachy nude shade; looks stunning on every skintone with a brown lipliner.
4. Rubellite Cosmetics liquid lipstick in Ife: a deep brown shade with purple undertones that will look flawless on deep skintones.
5. Rubellite Cosmetics liquid lipstick in Ihunanya: another beautiful peachy nude shade that medium skintones can wear without a lipliner; darker queens definitely need a lipliner for this one.
1. LimeCrime Velvetine in Riot: this was my go-to nude for months once upon a time; a nude shade with red/orange undertones that will turn heads on any medium to deep skintone.
2. L.A Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment gloss in Fleur: a medium peachy nude suitable for all skintones; darker tones will need a lipliner.
3. HushBeautyNG matte liquid lipstick in Arcadia: if you follow me on Instagram, you should know this baby; a flawless dark brown lipstick with slight red tones great for all skintones. I have a full review of this product.
4. Taos Cosmetics gloss in Crème Brulee: a cool tone brown gloss that will honestly look perfect on every single human.
5. Taos Cosmetics liquid lipstick in Tripoli: a mauve pink shade that needs no lipliner on medium skintones; needs a brown lipliner for darker skintones.
1. Taos Cometics liquid lipstick in Tunis Baby: this shade looks like my lips but better; a medium/flesh tone brown, gorgeous on medium and dark skintones.
2. NYX liquid suede lipstick in Be-spoken: a medium/flesh tone mauve shade that is absolutely flawless on medium and dark beauties.
3. Gerard Cosmetics Gloss in Madison Avenue: a flesh tone gloss with peach undertones; perfect as a lip topper or on its own with a lipliner on medium and dark skintones.
4. BeautylinebyDidi matte lip pigment in Choko: a deep brown shade with peach undertones; looks like bare skin on Patsy so it is made for melanin girls.
5. Arly Cosmetics matte liquid lipstick in Sweet: a medium brown with orange undertones that may need a lipliner for darker skintones.
Most of these lipsticks and glosses are affordable which is super cool yeah? None of these nudes will look ashy on a melanin sister, I promise that.
