Close Encounter With Three Kinds
Nature at its best
Kaziranga National Park is famous for its one-horned rhinos. I have never taken a safari within the park, but here’s an interesting thing about the park.
A national highway passes through the park, and while you do so, you can see some animals from the road itself.
It is deer most of the time, but if you are lucky you get a close-up of rhinos as well as herds of wild elephants. I got my lucky breaks on three occasions as I passed this park.
On the first, I encountered a herd of wild elephants crossing the road in all their grace and elegance. It was a baby elephant, however, who stole the show.
He was dancing about, twirling his trunk, shaking his tail. Maybe he was excited to see so many people together.
He was finally herded away by his parents.
Bu t the next time I got luckier. A rhino came almost near the road and was grazing in a field near the highway. And that was not the usual viewpoint, so I was the only one who got curious and checked him out. I photographed him for about an hour before I left the place.
And before this majestic being, I got a glimpse of a herd of deer as well. Here is the best of my collection of these mild-natured animals.
