I go to Eastbourne regularly and in recent times weā€™ve spent a lot of time on the South Downs, trying to stay away from people. Itā€™s a stunning place for a walk, with amazing views out to sea.

There are two lighthouses. The iconic Beachy Head lighthouse in the sea, and Belle Tout, an old lighthouse on the edge of the cliff, thatā€™s been turned into a bed and breakfast. In recent years, itā€™s been moved away from the cliff due to coastal erosion.

If youā€™re a fan of the 1970s cult movie, Quadrophenia, you might recognise Beachy Head ā€” itā€™s where the scooter went off the edge of the cliff in the final scene.

Thereā€™s paragliding from the cliffs some weekends, and people cycle and walk in the area too. Itā€™s very beautiful and peaceful, with a visitor centre, places to eat, and a small exhibition. Itā€™s great for secluded walks in the sunshine.
