She was stoic, bitter, and afraid to love again,

Within any relationship, she just could not win.

It seemed that each person she tried loving,

Were unkind — she would eventually discover.

The people she thought were solid and intact,

Friends too were fakes only trading this for that.

Sharing her kindness did not seem to attract,

Persons who truly reflected her kindness back.

While shopping she met a lonely empathetic man,

At her, he smiled, but she mean-mugged him on demand.

Why’d he watch her as though he already knew,
