This is one of five poems written by a young girl staying at Hutton House, our shelter for 13–17 year old’s experiencing crisis.

I’m real, and so is my history. I really feel like my purpose is a mystery.

I wanna deal, but my product sells itself. How attractive is something that destroys your health?

It’s dangerous but worth the price. If you wanna try it I’ll sell you some ice.

If meth’s not for you, I sell heroin that will kill you too.

Drugs are good, aren’t you taught that in school? I promise if you try them they’ll make you cool.

Yeah my job’s not hard and easy money is the best. As long as you’ve got your story straight when you’re under arrest.
