Today we have another Center for Human Services (CHS) Senior Leader Spotlight. Our Spotlight today is all about Kate Trompetter, Director of Development and Communications.

How long have you been involved with CHS?

I have worked here for almost 11 years, but I volunteered before that.

How did you first get involved with CHS?

I first got involved with CHS when I came home from college and volunteered as a pianist for an event, but I was first hired at CHS as a program specialist in Youth Services. After that I weaved back and forth between Youth Services and Marketing. CHS has always been invested in me and helping me grow professionally and I appreciate that.

What does your role as Director of Development and Communications entail?

I oversee fundraising and communication, so this means money and messaging. As senior leaders, we have the unique opportunity to hold the whole and work on the Strategic Plan. I am excited about the Strategic Plan and the role I get to play in bringing it to fruition.

What is your favorite thing about working at CHS and why?

The people. In my role, it’s an honor to get to tell the stories of our organization. There’s a lot of trust that goes into people sharing their stories with us and being the one that gets to hold that for people is very special.

Which of our core values is most important to you and why?

Partnerships is most important to me because in my own development as a leader and as a person, everything is better when we do it together. Strong, authentic partnerships make life better.

Who is someone that inspires you to be a leader?

My kids and what they represent about the world, that inspires me to be a leader. I want everyone to have a space that is healthy and inspired so that they can grow and develop as people. As a leader I can help create that space.

What does leadership mean to you?

Leadership is about connectedness and creating a space that helps people and systems see what’s possible and believe that they can actually do it.
