But some foods can be called superfoods due to the abundance of nutrients they pack. Let’s take a look at the superfoods and learn why they’re good for us.

Dark leafy vegetables

The dark green veggies such as spinach, kale, and bok choy, among other green leafy vegetables, are an excellent source of minerals and many vitamins. They have Vitamin A, C, E, and K and minerals such as iron, potassium, and calcium. These make excellent ingredients for soups and stir-fries.

Berries

Berries are delicious and make a great dessert alternative. These are the perfect option for those with a sweet tooth. Some berries such as strawberries, blueberries make a great dessert, toppings, or just smoothies. They are loaded with antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins. It deserves inclusion in your daily diet.

Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits are yummy, and they’re full of nutrients. Lemons, limes, oranges, sweet lime, pomelo, and many more citrus fruits are excellent vitamin C, folate, fiber, and potassium sources. One can get creative about how to consume these delicious treats of nature.

Nuts

Great additives to a fruit salad or berries, a handful of nuts like groundnuts, almonds, cashews make an excellent crunch element to the already sweet and juicy berries. They have an abundant amount of healthy fats that can keep hunger at bay, besides being a good source of magnesium and fiber.

Beans

Black beans, kidney beans, and other beans are rich in magnesium, potassium, and fiber sources. They also have a fair amount of carbohydrates and provide the much-needed protein without the side of unsaturated fat that comes in meat.

Food with high omega-3 fatty acids

Omega-3 is the healthy fat that is essential to our bodies. Salmon is so far the best source of this fat. Other fishes include mackerel, tuna, trout, and sardines. You can still get your omega-3 fatty acid from flax seeds, chia seeds, and walnuts if you’re a vegetarian. There’s also extra virgin olive oil and avocado in this mix.

Eating healthy has been associated with a healthy mind. Only once we are feeling good from the inside, the mind is happy. Bad food choices can cause a lack of energy and an eventual lack of motivation in general. This can bring down mental energy; the person doesn’t feel healthy anymore.

A fusion of a healthy mind with a healthy body is crucial for leading a healthy lifestyle. Diet is an integral part of it. Thus, we need to keep a close watch about what we put into our bodies. After all, our bodies are our temples.
