The internet is a place where people can gather for good and bad. Unfortunately, many people prefer to be anonymous and hate from behind their keyboards; cowards in a room who feel entertainment at the despair of others.

Ed Sheeran (July 3rd, 2017)

Ed Sheeran recently “quit” Twitter due to haters leaving comments. The singer-songwriter said that he would go on the social media platform and find “nothing but people saying mean things”.

“Twitter’s a platform for that,” he continued. “One comment ruins your day. But that’s why I’ve come off it. The head-fuck for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much.”

Following the reports he posted a message on Instagram on 4 July where he wrote: “Loads of Hoo-har about me quitting stuff. I haven’t quit anything, I’m just not reading anything, except Harry Potter.

Iggy Azalea (February 2015)

Iggy Azalea, the Australian rapper, came back from vacation to find a number of people body shaming her online for an unflattering beach photo.

After that incident, she passed the responsibility on to her management team with some strong words about life online.

Demi Lovato (quit for 24 hours)

Demi Lovato ran into some trouble with trolls for a slightly less serious reason.

The singer called Mariah Carey “nasty” for her famous “I don’t know her” meme.

After getting backlash for her comments, Lovato left with the announcement, “Damn I gotta quit sayin s — t. Bye Twitter.”

But 24 hours later, she was back.

Justin Bieber (deleted his instagram in 2016)

Justin Bieber deleted his Instagram account after negative comments about his dating life devolved into a comments section feud with ex Selena Gomez.

Kanye West (May 5th, 2017)

Kanye deleted his twitter and his instagram.

Also on Friday, West launched TheKidsSupply, a children’s clothing line he’s been working on with Kim Kardashian for quite some time.
