Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn and Boundaries

“No is a complete sentence.” Anne Lamott

When did you last say “No” without feeling guilty or over-explaining yourself?

Saying no is avoiding the harm that arrives when we are unaware of our needs. Saying no is respecting our commitments and the commitments of others.

Capricorn rules the skin and the bones alongside the teeth. Skin underscores the relationship between our internal self and the external world. The bones set a structure to that relationship. Biting is often a manifestation of a child asserting their boundaries or seeking autonomy–it is often a way of saying “no.” or establishing personal space.

Capricorn rules boundaries–the individual personal space. Capricorn teaches us that when we say no by not having to over-explain ourselves, we honor a way to safely cultivate self-respect and allow space for others to respect us.

Boundaries make us feel safe. Boundaries give structure to our relationships.

Mercury is stationing retrograde at five degrees in Capricorn this week. It will conjunct with the Sun until it re-enters Sagittarius on Saturday, giving us an opportunity to reflect on our boundaries.

When will you next say “no” without feeling guilty or over-explaining yourself?
