Here at OurStreets we believe that shared mobility options like dockless scooters, bicycles, mopeds — and yes, even cars — are an important piece of the puzzle to keep vulnerable road users safe. These mobility options are changing the way we move around cities, decreasing individual car trips, and encouraging cities to build more street safety infrastructure.

Currently, sidewalk clutter is one of the biggest problems these shared mobility operators face. To that end, OurStreets is proud to announce a partnership with Helbiz on a month-long pilot that will provide Helbiz with direct access to OurStreets reports for quick and easy resolution for bikes that are broken or blocking the public right of way — and we need your help.

Through this pilot program, OurStreets allows anyone to use the OurStreets app to report issues with Helbiz e-bikes by enabling them to easily scan the bike’s QR code, which provides the bike’s ID and location to Helbiz. The OurStreets report can then be efficiently resolved in one of three simple ways:

  1. The OurStreets user moves the bike to a safe location
  2. The bike is rented
  3. The Helbiz operations team resolves the issue.

If you live, work or visit Washington, DC in the month of March and see a Helbiz bike that looks inoperable or blocking the public right of way, we encourage you to report the bike via OurStreets and move it to a safe location if you are able.

Be on the lookout for announcements of pilot partnerships with more shared mobility operators. We are all in this together to make our streets safer for all!
